Our First 100 Days: National Initiatives

1. Civil Rights Teach-Ins:
  • Unions have always played an integral part of the Civil Rights movement. It is a part of our DNA.
  • The greater Washington, D.C. area has one of the largest concentration of universities and colleges in the world.
  • Within our first 100 days, we will start a program that sponsors regular Civil Rights Teach-Ins at local DC-area schools.
2. Trips to Capitol Hill:
  •  Federal workers and their unions have been under assault in Congress for some time. We are entering a critical period in our political history and our voice needs to be heard.
  • Working in conjunction with AFGE National, within our first 100 days, we will start a program that assists AFGE National in their lobbying efforts.
3. Host Events on National Issues:
  • Building on the bullets above, there are a lot of issues of concern to Federal workers. We not only need to be heard but we also need to promote the important voices on these issues.
  • Within our first 100 days, we will initiate a program that finds these voices and invites them to speak at events we host.
  • In addition, we will build a template for hosting forums of national significance. To that end, we would like to host a National Women's Leadership Forum before the end of 2017.
